Goal: 1500 families - $200 per family - $300,000 for Issaquah Schools

This year’s Calling for Kids campaign will help fund Project GLAD, a comprehensive, best-practices based program that empowers teachers by arming them with tools to teach to the highest level while supporting everyone in the classroom. Funds raised through Calling for Kids, will enable the District to accelerate their implementation of Project GLAD by two years—resulting in a minimum of 440 GLAD trained teachers by the fall of 2009.
Why Project GLAD?
Research proves that teacher quality is by far the most critical factor influencing student achievement. By investing in staff, the District can make the quickest and most significant impact on our student learning.

"GLAD is a training program that puts powerful teaching strategies in the hands of teachers. It enables teachers to set and reach high expectations for all levels of learners, from those struggling to those excelling academically. GLAD is part of the bridge that will take us from good to great."

Calling for Kids Objectives:
To increase community awareness of the Issaquah Schools Foundation.
To raise funds to support district-wide program enhancements and updates.
Goals:
To raise $300,000
To increase support from Issaquah School district families to 1,500 donors
To communicate to Issaquah School District families, the enormous impact a $200 gift to the Issaquah Schools Foundation can have.
Why Does the School District Need Extra Money?
Today’s fast-paced increasing global society necessitates that our students be fluent in the latest technologies and program advancements. However, the need for improvements and updates far outpaces available finances.
By working together, the Issaquah Schools Foundation, the Issaquah School District and its stakeholders—every family in the district—can ensure that our students receive the highest quality education; one that will prepare them to compete, and succeed in state, national and global arenas.
Doubling the number of Issaquah School family donors to 1,500 (at $200 each) will make available an additional $300,000 for educational support.
We know it can be done! Bellevue Schools Foundation raises four times more than the Issaquah Schools Foundation from approximately the same number of families. Mercer Island raises twice the amount we do, with one-quarter of the population. We are confident that our parents and community can make the same investment in our students!
