12th Annual Nourish Every Mind Benefit Luncheon

Calling for Kids - topCalling for Kids - bottom

The Foundation says THANK YOU to the nearly 800 business and community members who packed Issaquah Community Center on Thursday, May 13 for the 12th Annual Nourish Every Mind Benefit Luncheon. The Foundation couldn’t have ordered a better day and the wonderful weather proved to be an indicator of the day’s success. By close of the Luncheon, attendees had raised a record $406,000 in support of Issaquah District students and schools.

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our guests,” says Executive Director Robin Callahan.  ”It proves just how committed our community is to education. They realize that an investment in our students is an investment in our community and in our collective future. More donors stepped up at a greater level than ever before in the history of our Foundation to ensure that all students have the resources required to prepare them for success in school, college and career.”

Proceeds from the Luncheon will underwrite the Foundation’s current slate of programs and seed new initiatives designed to increase students' knowledge in critical STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) subjects. These include Financial Literacy classes for all 8th graders, Robotics Clubs at all middle and high schools and an updated science curriculum for Kindergarten through 5th grade students.

The Foundation offers hearty thanks to the hard-working Nourish Every Mind Committee, co-chaired by Elizabeth Brown and Leslie Patten; our Golden Apple Sponsors, Microsoft and Swedish Medical Center;  and our speakers—teachers  Eric Ensey and Betsy Sanford and Issaquah High School alum Elyse Edwards. Kudos also to Pat Cashman for serving as Master of Ceremonies for the 7th consecutive year, and to our wonderful Table Captains for helping to fill the room.
