Calling for Kids
2008, ISF's annual spring
fundraising campaign, culminated with over 300 high
school students calling district families on the
nights of April 1st and 2nd. Early receipts indicate
the campaign generated over $160,000 in
contributions.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you," say Calling for
Kids Co-Chairs Kelly Munn and Deborah Parsons.
Calling for Kids is a huge team event that could not
have been done by just a few. We are grateful to
everyone who played a part -- District staff,
PTSA's, student callers, those who wrote letters to
the editor in support of the campaign, and the
hundreds of donors who responded to our appeal. The
money raised will help make a difference in our
students' lives."
Proceeds from
Calling for Kids are earmarked for
the expansion of
Project GLAD training for District
staff. GLAD is a 'best practices' program proven to
increase student achievement. GLAD empowers teachers
with strategies to teach to the highest level while
supporting students of all learning styles. The
influx of
Calling for Kids
funds will enable the District to accelerate
the Project GLAD training timetable and provide GLAD
mentors and GLAD Grad seminars.
ISF Executive Director Robin Callahan articulated
her thoughts on
Calling for Kids 2008, "While we may not have
reached our revenue goal, we did reach new donors,
collaborate with an incredible group of community
members, and expand awareness of how the partnership
between ISF and the District enhances education for
everyone. These are accomplishments of which we can
all be proud."
